Mustang Swim and Dive Program Reaches New Heights in 2019-20

ATLANTA - To say that the varsity girls and boys swim and dive teams have been on a roll this season would be a major understatement.

Led by Head Coach Ryan Bell, the Mustangs have put together one of the best seasons in program history.

Both the girls and boys have dominated competition throughout the 2019-20 with record-breaking times, recording the most state cuts in program history and a victory at the 1A State Championship.

Despite adversity and challenges at the start of the season, the determination, work ethic and unwavering support of each other has led to many personal and team PR’s and victories.

Coached by Ryan Bell and Chris Winslow, managed by Meaghan Addy, Doug Davis and led by Captains Patrick Casey, August Durlacher, Evan Bell, Sarah Eaves, Harriet Middleton and Angelina Tuggle, the team has accomplished amazing highlights:

-1A State Champions Boys Team
-1A State Runner-Up Girls Team
-1st place team finish for boys at Atlanta Girls School Invitational
-2nd place team finish for boys at Pace Invitational (6 points behind North Atlanta 6A)
-3rd place team finish for boys at 50th Metro Meet (behind only Westminster 3A and Marist 4A)
-3rd place team finish for girls at Atlanta Girls School Invitational
-Pace Academy Pool Record for Boys 200 Free-Relay 1:30:10
-Multiple first-place, record-setting individual swims by Hayes Beamon, Evan Bell and Sam Whiting
-1st place finish in 1A Dive Championship by Greg Fuentes
-Most state cuts in MV history: Liam Adams (10), Hayes Beamon (11), Evan Bell (11), Patrick Casey (12), Brooks Champney (9), August Durlacher (12), Sam Hodges (9), Rylan Kruep (9), Banks Lanham (10), Jack McGuire (12), Clayton Patnode (12), Sam Whiting (10), Lauren Bell (9), Sarah Eaves (12), Mary Fuentes (9), Delainey Foster (10), Anna Clare Hull (9), Emma Markland (11), AG Messner (10), Savanna Messner (10), Rachel Turner (11).

The Mustangs will close out the season at the GHSA Swim and Dive Championships on Feb. 6-8 at Georgia Tech.
