Girls Tennis Punches Ticket to State Championship with 3-1 Win Over Galloway

ATLANTA - For a second consecutive season, the Mount Vernon Varsity Girls Tennis team will play for a GHSA State Championship.

The Mustangs secured their spot in the title game with a 3-1 victory over Galloway on Thursday afternoon, May 2, at the Chastain Tennis Center.

Daniela O'Leary had no issues at no. 1 singles with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win.

Sofia Tur and Taylor Gravely played well together, prevailing 6-3, 6-3 at no. 2 doubles.

Hunter Reese Giardino and Brooke Nazarian were challenged at no. 1 double but remained undefeated on the season and clinching the team win at 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.

Mount Vernon (16-8) will play in the GHSA 1-A DI State Championship match on Saturday, May 11 at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.

MV will face a familiar region foe in Atlanta International with matches set to begin at 9 a.m.
