ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Track and Field squads posted multiple top finishers at the Atlanta Metro Championships at Pace Academy on Monday, March 24.
The evening kicked off with the Girls 100M Hurdles where Senior Kennedy Reynolds ran a season's best time of 14.67 to win the Championship.
The time also moves Reynolds to the no. 1 ranking in the state for 1A-3A Private classification.
The Boys 4x200M Relay consisting of senior Ethan Pajot, sophomores Kaden WIlliamson, Kadin Tomlinson and Grant Reynolds placed Top-4 in their season debut.
Freshman Morgan Huggins followed up her great 3200M performance from Saturday (New School Record) with a Top-8 finish in the Girls 1600M. Her time of 5:26.79 landed Huggins in the Top-7 of the classification and set another new school record.
The Girls 400M Dash boasted the Top-2 fastest qualifying times coming into Monday's Finals from senior Alexis Smith and sophomore Cora Champney.
Both held true to form finishing first and second in the event with Smith winning the Girls 400M Championship and Cora Champney with a close runner-up.
In the Boys 400M, senior Ethan Pajot had a Top-5 finish that put him in the Top-7 of the classification.
Later in the day, Reynolds, who is the three-time State Champion in the Girls 300M Hurdles, solidified herself at the top of the classification with a time of 43.93. The time mark is also a Georgia Top-3 time across all classifications.
The Girls 4x400mM Relay, with Champney, Smith, Huggins and Reynolds, ended the evening on a high note by running away from the rest of the field by more than 16 seconds and setting a new school record with a time of 4:00.07.
The time is also a Georgia Top-10 time across all classifications.
The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, April 5 at the Georgia Spring Break Showdown.
Events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will be hosted by Marietta High School.
