Varsity Baseball Earns Region Win Over Galloway Scots, 15-2

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Baseball team snapped a two-game slide with a convincing 15-2 region win over the Galloway School Scots on Monday afternoon, March 31.

MV totaled 17 hits en route to the victory.

Carson Albert, WIll Flowers and Harris Merriwether had three hits apiece while teammates Nate Thomas and Harrison Mills recorded two.

Albert raked in four RBI's and Bobby Bastek drove in three runs.

Thomas posted two RBI's with Rigby Anderson, Hudson Forrest, Zach Ohnstad, Merriwether and Flowers finishing with one.

MV had five extra-base hits with Albert recording two doubles.

MV led 4-0 after the first two innings of action.

After a scoreless top of the third, the Mustangs outscored the Scots 11-1 over the next three innings to secure the win.

Forrest picked up the win on the mound for MV.

The righty tossed 4.2 innings allowing two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.

Jack Riddle threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Mount Vernon (6-7) returns to action on Wednesday, April 3 traveling to Whitefield Academy for another region contest.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Mableton, Ga.
