Varsity Girls and Boys Tennis Secure Road Wins at Whitefield

MABLETON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Tennis teams were in action on Thursday, April 3, taking on the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack in non-region play.

Both squads came away with a win on the day.

In the Varsity Girls match, MV shutout the Wolfpack 4-0.

Daniela O'Leary won at no. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0 while teammate Lucille Kincaid bested her opposition 6-1, 6-1 at no. 3 singles.

Hunter Reese Giardino and Brooke Nazarian triumphed at no. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-3.

Mary Laborde and Caroline Wright came out on top at no. 2 doubles 6-2, 6-4.

In the Varsity Boys match, the Mustangs won 3-2.

Matthew Zeldin had a strong outing at no. 1 singles winning 6-0, 6-4.

Nico Tur continued his stellar play at no. 2 singles, coming away with a 7-5, 6-4 win.

Drew Elliott battled past his opponent at no. 3 singles in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 13-11).

Mount Vernon returns to action Monday, April 7, closing out the regular season with a match against Holy Innocents on Senior Night.

Matches are set to begin at 3 p.m. at Dunwoody Country Club.
