Varsity Baseball Picks Up 10-1 Region Win at Mount Pisgah

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Baseball team earned a key region victory on Tuesday, April 8, defeating the Mount Pisgah Patriots 10-1 at the Patriot Athletic Campus.

MV scored two runs in the third inning and added three more in the third to go ahead 5-0.

A 2-run fifth inning and a 3-run seventh put the game away for good for MV.

Bobby Bastek finished 3-for-4, racking up two doubles and two RBI's.

Andrew Moran drove in two runs for the Mustangs as well.

Carson Albert, Harris Merriwether, Hudson Forrest and Zach Ohnstad had one RBI each for MV, who outhit the Patriots 11-2 on the day.

Mount Vernon capitalized with its approach at the pate, drawing seven walks and just three strikeouts.

Will Flowers earned the win on the mound for the Mustangs.

The righty tossed six innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 10 batters.

Forrest pitched one inning of relief as well.

Mount Vernon (8-9) returns to action on Thursday, April 10, hosting Wheeler High School in a non-region contest.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mustang Park.
