ROME, Ga. - The opportunity to repeat as GHSA Boys Golf State Champions is still alive for the Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Golf team.
The Mustangs secured their spot in the State Tournament with a third place finish at the Area Tournament on Monday, April 21 at Coosa Country Club.
Sam Koontz fired a 1-under 71 to tie for low medalist.
Anthony Beccaria continued his stellar play with a 2-over 74 while teammate Jake Green carded a 4-over 76.
Henry Miller rounded out the Top-4 scores for the Mustangs with an 82.
MV will look to defend its State Championship crown May 19-20 at the GHSA Private Boys State Tournament.
Twin City Country Club in Tenille, Ga. is set to host the event.
