Boys Soccer Moves to Sweet 16 with 9-0 Victory Over Darlington

ATLANTA - For the second consecutive season, the Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Soccer team is moving on to the Sweet 16.

The Mustangs secured their spot in the next round of the GHSA Private State Tournament with a convincing 9-0 victory over The Darlington School Tigers on Friday night, April 25 at Ron Hill Field.

MV scored four goals in the first half and added five more in the second period to put the match away for good.

Nick Sroka, Davis Regeir, George Walmsley, and Landron Hoyal all netted two goals while Jack Ernst posted one goal.

Regeir led the team in assists with three. Hoyal finished with two assists and Walmsley with one.

MV (10-3) travels to play Savannah Christian in the Sweet 16 on Wednesday, April 30.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Corbett Field.
