SAVANNAH, Ga. - For a second consecutive season, he Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Soccer team is moving on to the Elite 8 of the GHSA State Tournament.
The Mustangs defeated the Savannah Christian Raiders 7-1 on Wednesday night, April 30 at Corbett Field to advance.
MV led 4-0 at halftime and outscored the Raiders 3-1 in the second half to secure the win.
George Walmsley netted a hat trick with three goals.
Landron Hoyal, Harrison Woods, Will Inman and Chase Betz each had one goal as well.
Eyob Anteneh finished with three assists and teammate Hoyal had two assists.
Ian Stukalsky had one assist as well.
Holt Dimmock picked up one save in goal in the winning bid.
MV (11-3) will play the winner of the Atlanta International (no. 4)/Landmark Christian (no. 13) match on Tuesday, May 6.
