Varsity Softball Pushes Winning Streak to Eight with Victories Over Social Circle, Landmark and Lakeside

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball pushed its winning streak to eight games this week, defeating Social Circle, Landmark Christian and Lakeside over a three-day stretch from August 25-27.

Below are quick recaps of the games.










at LAKESIDE (W, 20-3) - August 27
The Mustang bats were hot again as MV bested the Lakeside High School Vikings 20-3 in four innings on the road.

Priscilla Andrin drove in four runs while going 3-for-3 at the dish that included a home run.

Olivia McDougall also hit a home run and finished the day 2-for-4 with three RBI's.

Six Mustangs had a multi-hit performance: Alex Schiff (3), Andrin (3), Olivia Stonecipher (3), McDougall (2), Taylor D'Auria (2), and Dillan Pajot (2).

McDougall was the winning pitcher of record, allowing three runs on four hits with three strikeouts.



at LANDMARK CHRISTIAN (W, 19-3) - August 26
The Mustangs poured on the offense, defeating the Landmark Christian War Eagles 19-3 in three innings on the road.

Alex Schiff, Bella Durkee, and Taylor D'Auria each had two doubles while Mamie Bowen blasted a home run.

Durkee led the team with four RBI's while teammates D'Auria and Bowen each netted three.

Durkee picked up the win in the circle, allowing three runs on three hits. The righty also struck out seven batters.



vs. SOCIAL CIRCLE (W, 5-4) - August 25
The Mustangs came back from a two-run deficit late in the game to defeat Social Circle 5-4 on Monday, August 25.

Priscilla Andrin tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning with a RBI single that brought in Ella Clockadale.

Mount Vernon would win the game in the bottom of the seventh on a Clockadale fielder's choice that plated Olivia Stonecipher.

MV led 2-0 at the end of two innings but Social Circle posted three runs in the top of the third to take a 3-2 lead.

Mamie Bowen finished 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Olivia McDougall picked up the win in the circle for MV, tossing seven innings while allowing four runs (three earned) and striking out three batters.



The Mustangs (8-0) return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 3, traveling to Cambridge High School.

First pitch against the Bears is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Milton, Ga.
