Varsity Volleyball Nets Wins Over Furtah Prep and Weber School

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team pushed its winning streak to seven on Tuesday, Sept. 2, netting 2-0 victories over Furtah Prep and Weber School on the road.

MV took care of Furtah Prep with ease, winning the first set 25-4 followed by a 25-3 victory in the second set to win the match.

The Mustangs totaled 17 kills with Quincey Smeltz, Emilia Anderson, and Sophia Hardie leading the way with three apiece.

Hannah Douglas and Kate Kannon Hoover posted six assists.

MV dominated the serve game with Douglas recording with five aces.

Emmy Heller finished with four aces as well.

In the nightcap against Weber, MV won in convincing fashion in two sets: 25-14, 25-10.

The Mustangs finished with 23 kills as a team as Riley Campbell led the charge with six.

Douglas posted 10 assists while Claire Jacobsen recorded four aces.

Mount Vernon (12-6) returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 4, traveling to Atlanta International School.

First serve against the Eagles is scheduled for 6 p.m.
