ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team picked up its eighth consecutive victory on Thursday night, Sept. 4, defeating the Atlanta International School Eagles 3-0 on the road.
The Mustangs took the first set 25-19 followed by a 25-20 triumph in the second set.
MV closed out the match and secured the shutout with a 25-19 win in the third set.
Mount Vernon totaled 35 kills with Claire Jacobsen leading the charge posting 10.
Ellie Wood finished with seven kills while Sophia Hardie netted six.
The Mustangs had nine aces throughout the match as Hannah Douglas finished with four.
Douglas also paced the team with 19 of MV's 34 assists.
MV was active at the net, recording 13 blocks as a team. Quincey Smeltz led the way with four and Ellie Wood notched three.
Libero Brooke Nazarian accumulating 19 digs as well.
Mount Vernon (13-6) returns to play on Saturday, Sept. 6, competing at the Warrior Invitational hosted by North Cobb High School.
Matches are set to being at 2:30 p.m. in Kennesaw, Ga.
