CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Cross Country squads were in action over the weekend, competing in the OrthoWest Invitational at Carrollton High School on Saturday, Sept. 6.
The Varsity Girls had an impressive showing, placing third out of 31 schools in the 1A-3A event.
Morgan Huggins posted a runner-up finish with a time of 19:58.
Emma-Neal Medlin also had a Top-10 time, crossing the finish line at 21:21 (10th).
Right behind Medlin was teammate Alexis Kendall at 21:38 (11th).

In the Varsity Boys race, the Mustangs took 16th place out of 37 teams.
Will Vansant was 43rd overall with a time of 19:00 and Henry Miller finished 60th at 19:30.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Wingfoot Classic, hosted by the Atlanta Track Club.
Races are set to begin at 7:40 AM at Sam Smith Park in Cartersville, Ga.
