ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Football team earned its first win of the season this past Friday, Sept. 12, defeating the B.E.S.T. Academy Eagles 51-0 at Henderson Stadium.

MV finished with 463 yards of total offense while limiting the Eagles to just 17.

The Mustangs scored the first of many touchdowns in the first quarter on a 20-yard touchdown reception from Taurean Rawlins to go ahead 7-0.

After a safety early in the second period, Rawlins struck again on a 35-yard catch from Noah Dungan to lead 16-0.

The final score of the half came via a 16-yard rush by Ethan Siggers to give the Mustangs a commanding 23-0 lead at halftime.

Mount Vernon put the game away in the third period, scoring three more touchdowns.

After a 35-yard touchdown run by Jackson Scotchie, Keon Cleland and Rawlins hauled in passes from Dungan to put the game out of reach.

MV's final score came in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard rush from Finley Schoenberg.

The Mustangs finished with 243 yards rushing and 220 yards receiving.

Dungan was 11-of-14 passing with 216 yards and four touchdowns.

Harrison Mills paced Mount Vernon in rushing with 118 yards on 13 attempts.

Rawlins led the team in receiving, hauling in six catches totaling 162 yards.

Mount Vernon (1-3) returns to action on Friday, Sept. 19, hosting Mount Pisgah.

Kickoff against the Patriots is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. at Ron Hill Field.
