Varsity Softball Remains Unbeaten with 9-1 Region Win Over St. Francis

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team kept to its winning ways on Wednesday, Sept. 17, defeating the St. Francis Knights 9-1 in five innings at Mustang Park.

With the win, the Mustangs extend their winning streak to 15 while remaining undefeated.

MV scored one run in the bottom of the first and added six more in the bottom of the second to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

Mount Vernon posted two more in the bottom of the fourth inning as well.

Alex Schiff was 3-for-3 at the dish, driving in one run and scoring three times.

Priscilla Andrin and Taylor D'Auria had two hits and one RBI each.

Olivia McDougall and Mia Winokur also drove in one run.

McDougall picked up the win for the Mustangs in the circle, tossing five innings and allowing one run on five hits.

The righty struck out three batters and walked three.

MV (15-0, 4-0 Reg. 5-1A) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23, hosting St. Pius in a non-region contest.

First pitch against the Golden Lions is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Mustang Park.
