CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country squads were in action over the weekend, competing in various events at the Wingfoot Clasic at Sam Smith Park.

In the Varsity Girls race, 15 of 19 Mustangs had Personal Record times with standout performances from freshmen Emma Neal Medlin and Lizzie Mueller.

Saturday also marked the return of junior team captain Allie Parker since returning from knee surgery earlier in the season.

In the Varsity Boys race, 15 of the 18 runners dropped their Personal Record Time.

Sophomores Thomas Robbins and Carter King had strong races, clocking in with times in the 19-minute mark.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Darlington Festival hosted by The Darlington School.

Races are set to begin at 8 a.m. in Rome, Ga.
