Varsity Softball Snaps Skid with Wins Over Blessed Trinity, Chamblee

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team snapped a three-game losing streak over the weekend, defeating the Blessed Trinity Titans and Chamblee High School Bulldogs at Mustang Park on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Below are quick recaps of the games.











vs. BLESSED TRINITY - W, 5-3

Ella Clockadale smashed a go-ahead 3-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to propel the Mustangs to a 5-3 win over the Blessed Trinity Titans.

MV tied the game in the bottom of the first inning at 1-1 on a Priscilla Andrin solo home run.

The Titans scored two runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 3-1 before Clockadale's heroics in the bottom of the inning.

Andrin finished with two hits on the day as well.

Olivia McDougall earned the win in the circle for MV. The righty allowed three runs (two earned) while scattering just four hits with five strikeouts.



vs. CHAMBLEE HIGH SCHOOL - W, 4-1

Mount Vernon closed out the round-robin with a 4-1 win over the Chamblee Bulldogs.

MV scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning on RBI hits from Mia Winokur and Bella Durkee to lead 2-1.

The Mustangs added a run in the bottom of the third on a Durkee triple that brought in Winokur for a 3-1 advantage.

The final run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning on another Durkee RBI hit that scored Alex Schiff.

Mollie Martin earned the win in the circle for MV, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts over seven innings pitched.



Mount Vernon (17-3) returns to play this week with games against Wesleyan (Sept. 29), Galloway (Sept. 30), Social Circle (Oct. 1) and Whitefield (Oct. 4).
