Varsity Cross Country Has Memorable Day at Darlington Festival

ROME, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams were in action over the weekend, running at the Darlington Cross Country Festival at The Darlington School.

The Varsity Girls finished second out of 22 teams while the Varsity Boys took 13th of 29.

In the Varsity Girls race, Morgan Huggins took home a first place finish with a time of 19:19.

Emma-Neal Medlin placed in the Top-10 as well at 20:54.

Other notable finishes for the Varsity Girls included Alexis Kendall (11th - 21:36) and Siena Tiffin (26th - 22:55).

In the Varsity Boys race, Haris Flynn captured first place with a time of 16:46.

Other runners inside the Top-100 were Henry Miller (60th - 19:16) and John Paine (70th - 19:43).

Mount Vernon will race next at the Coach Wood Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Races are set to begin at 8:15 a.m. at the McIntosh Nature Preserve in Whitesburg, Ga.
