ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team picked up two wins on Senior Night, defeating the Prince Avenue Christian School Wolverines 2-0 followed by a 2-0 victory over the Miller Grove High School Wolverines on Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Upper Campus Gym.
In MV's match against Prince Avenue, the Mustangs took the first set 25-20 and won the second set 25-13.
The Mustangs finished with 18 kills with Sophia Hardie and Julia Scotchie earning four each.
Riley Campbell had three of MV's six aces while Brooke Nazarian totaled seven of teams' 30 digs.
Hannah Douglas led the squad with nine assists as well.
In the nightcap, MV took down Miller Grove 25-18 and 25-14.
Three players led the Mustangs with three kills: Claire Jacobsen, Ellie Wood and Campbell.
Quincey Smeltz finished with four blocks at the net and led the team in aces with four.
Emmy Heller posted seven assists while Nazarian patrolled the floor well with 13 digs.
Mount Vernon (24-19) returns to play on Tuesday, Oct. 7 beginning Area/Region Tournament play.
The Mustangs will face Wesleyan at 5 p.m. at Mt. Paran in Kennesaw, Ga.
