KENNESAW, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Football team pushed its winning streak to three games on Friday, Oct. 31, defeating the Mount Paran Christian School Eagles 35-14 at Catherine Steele Sewell Stadium.
MV got on the board first in a big way when Taurean Rawlins returned a kickoff 79 yards. Nico Tur made the PAT to give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead.
Later in the quarter, Keon Cleland had an 11-yard touchdown run. Tur made the extra point to give the Mustangs a 14-0 advantage.
After allowing an Eagle score early in the second period, MV would get two touchdowns from Rawlins again, the first a 32-yard reception and the second a 48-yard score, both from Cleland for a 28-7 lead at halftime.
MV put the game out of reach in the third quarter on another Rawlins 13-yard rush.
The Mustangs totaled 404 yards of total offense while holding the Eagles to 248.
Cleland finished the game 12-for-18 passing with 145 yards and two touchdowns.
Harrison Mills totaled 108 yards rushing on 12 carries and Rawlins netted 126 yards receiving on seven catches.
Ethan Siggers and Colesson Quisenberry led MV's defense, combing for 21 tackles on the night. 
Siggers, Quisenberry, Jackson Scotchie and Rigby Anderson all had one sack each.
Mount Vernon (5-5) will have a week off before playing in the first round of the GHSA Private State Tournament.
The Mustangs will host Savannah Country Day on Friday, Nov. 14 at a time to be determined.
