NORCROSS, Ga. -The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Basketball picked up an impressive victory on Saturday, Nov. 15, defeating Top-10 ranked 6A Berkmar High School at the On The Radar Tip-Off Classic at Norcross High School.
Both squads battled to an 8-8 draw by the end of the first quarter.
Mount Vernon would go on a 22-15 run in the second period to lead 30-23 at halftime.
Berkmar won the third quarter 22-9 but the Mustangs rallied for a 20-point fourth quarter while limiting the Patriots to 11 to take the win.
Darrell Dickens paced the Mustangs in scoring with 17 points.
Jamaal Oliver netted 12 points, all on 3-pointers including two in the fourth quarter.
Quint McGrath finished with nine points as well.
Mount Vernon (2-0) returns to action on Friday, Nov. 21 traveling to Dunwoody High School for a non-region contest.
Tip-off against the Wildcats is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
