ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Basketball team picked up a key region win on Tuesday night, Jan. 20, defeating the King's Ridge Christian School Tigers 54-45 at the Student Center.

The Mustangs got off to a slow start, trailing the Tigers at the end of the first quarter 16-6.

MV outscored King's Ridge 13-6 in the second period to pull within three at halftime, 22-19.

Mount Vernon won the third quarter 22-14 and the final period 13-9 to capture the victory.

Chase Daniels led the Mustangs ins scoring with 15 points, all coming from 3-pointers.

Darrell Dickens, III netted 14 points while teammate Gabe Alterman totaled 10.

JJ Paige was MV's leading rebounder with six.

Alterman totaled four assists and Daniels recorded four steals.

Mount Vernon (16-2, 8-1 Reg. 5-1A DI) returns to action on Friday, Jan. 26, hosting Whitefield Academy in another region contest.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Campus Gym.
