COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Lacrosse team pushed its winning streak to three games on Tuesday night, Feb. 17, defeating the Woodward Academy War Eagles 10-8 at Graham Hixon Field at Colquitt Stadium.
MV led 4-1 at the end of the first period and 5-4 at halftime.
The Mustang defense pitched a shutout in the third period while the offense netted three goals to give MV an 8-4 advantage going into the final 12 minutes.
Mount Vernon added two more goals and held off a late War Eagle charge to secure the win.
Dalton Siggers finished with five goals to lead the Mustangs in scoring.
Teammate Jackson Scotchie tossed in four scores and Gunnar Ehrlich had one goal.
Keeper Coleson Quesinberry racked up 11 saves in the net for Mount Vernon.
The Mustangs totaled 28 shots, 17 of which were on goal.
MV's defense caused the War Eagles into 13 turnovers as well.
Mount Vernon (3-0) returns to action after Spring Break on Monday, March 9 hosting Dunwoody High School.
Face-off against the Wildcats is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Ron Hill Field.
