ATLANTA - For the third time in four years, the Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Basketball team is moving on to the Elite 8.

The Mustangs defeated the Savannah Christian Prep School Raiders 77-43 on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Upper Campus Gym to advance.

The Raiders led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter but the Mustangs won the second period 21-4 to lead 35-19 at halftime.

MV outscored Savannah Christian 42-24 in the second half to cruise to the win.

Four players finished in double figures scoring for MV: Jamaal Oliver (16), Darrell Dickens III (14), Noah Brady (12), and Quint McGrath (10).

Brady also paced the Mustangs in rebounding with six while Dickens III corralled five boards.

Gabe Alterman led the team in assists (9) and Chase Daniels in steals (3).

The Mustang offense was 48 percent from the field and only committed three turnovers in the game.

MV's defense forced the Raiders into 16 miscues.

Mount Vernon (27-3) will host Greenforest Christian in the Elite 8 on Wednesday, March 4.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Upper Campus Gymnasium.
