ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Baseball team was in action over the weekend, playing St. Francis at home on Friday, March 13 followed by a road contest at Piedmont Academy on Saturday, March 14.
In the game against St. Francis, MV won 12-3 to earn a region victory.
MV trailed 1-0 after the first inning but scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead and never look back.
The Mustangs scored in every inning after the third frame as well.
Will Flower and Harrison Mills had two RBI each while Carson Albert, Bobby Bastek, Graham Cawthon and Collin Roberts each drove in one run.
Flowers and Albert had multi-hit games for MV with two hits apiece.
Matthew Trent earned the win on the mound for MV, tossing five innings and allowing just one run on five hits with six strikeouts.
Eliott Shiver and Max Franklin each worked one inning of relief as well.
On Saturday at Piedmont Academy, MV fell 7-4.
Flowers and Roberts each drove in one run while Hudson Forrest had three hits and scored two runs.
Mount Vernon (5-4, 1-0 Reg. 5-1A DI) returns to action on Wednesday, March 18 traveling to King's Ridge Christian School to resume region play.
First pitch against the Tigers is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Alpharetta, GA
