Varsity Boys Lacrosse Defeats Lanier 10-6 for Third Straight Win

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Lacrosse team won it's third consecutive match on Monday night, March 23, defeating the Lanier High School Longhorns 10-6 at Ron Hill Field.

MV led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Longhorns 4-3 in the second period to lead at halftime 7-4.

Both squads were held scoreless in the third quarter.

The Longhorns cut the Mustang lead to two in the fourth, but MV scored the final two goals of the match to secure the win.

Dalton Siggers and Jackson Scotchie each scored four goals for the Mustangs.

Porter Ahrenkiel and Carr Easterlin added one goal as well.

Assists for MV were: Gunnar Ehrlich (1), Ahrenkiel (1) and Scotchie.

The Mustangs outshot Lanier 32-23, including 20-11 on goal.

MV also forced the Longhorns into 22 turnovers.

Colin Shenton had four saves in goal for Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon (7-1) returns to action on Wednesday, March 25, hosting Darlington School.

Face-off against the Tigers is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Ron Hill Field.
