Varsity Boys Soccer Advances to Final Four with 2-0 Win Over Paideia

ATLANTA - For the second time in three years, the Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Soccer team has advanced to the Final Four.

The Mustangs accomplished that feat with a 2-0 victory over the Paideia School Pythons at Ron Hill Field on Tuesday night, May 5.

Both teams battled to a 0-0 draw at halftime.

In the second half, MV rallied late with two goals in the final four minutes of play.

With 3:28 remaining, Dante Romagnoli scored from 18-yards out on an assist from Eyob Anteneh to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.

Then, with 1:12 to play, the Mustangs sealed the match with a goal from Will Inman on an assist from Owen Weldon.

Ashton Sedgley picked up four saves in goal for the Mustangs.

MV outshot the Pythons 9-6 as well.

Mount Vernon (15-4) travels to Hebron Christian Academy on Friday, May 8 for the GHSA Private Final Four.

Kick-off against the Lions is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Burlingame Field in Dacula, Ga.
