ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team pushed its winning streak to three games on Wednesday, August 12, defeating the Wesleyan School Wolves 8-0 at Mustang Park.

The Mustangs took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Taylor D'Auria singled home Ella Clockadale for a 1-0 advantage.

MV added two more runs in the bottom of the second for a 3-0 lead.

Olivia Stonecipher tripled home Hollyn Clockadale and came home one batter later on a Dillan Pajot RBI single.

The Mustang bats continued to produce in the third inning, scoring two more runs for a 5-0 edge.

D'Auria singled to plate Alex Schiff and came around to score on a Wesleyan error.

After a scoreless fourth frame, MV posted four more runs to bring the run rule into effect.

Mamie Bowen singled to bring in Caroline Birdsey and D'Auria followed by a Stoncipher RBI triple.

Bella Durkee picked up the win in the circle for the Mustangs, throwing a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts and three walks.

Mount Vernon (3-1) returns to play on Friday, August 14 traveling to North Atlanta High School.

First pitch against the Warriors is scheduled for 4 p.m.
