SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team pushed its winning streak to five games on Tuesday night, August 18, defeating Social Circle High School 15-0 in five innings in non-region play.

The Mustangs started the scoring in the top of the first on a Bella Durkee RBI single that brought in Ella Clockadale for a 1-0 lead.

MV added four more runs in the top of the second inning, the first coming on an Ella Clockadale bases loaded walk to bring home Hollyn Clockadale.

Two batters later, Taylor D'Auria cleared the bases on a double to left field that scored Olivia Stonecipher, Dillan Pajot and Ella Clockadale for a 5-0 advantage.

The Mustangs piled on the runs, scoring two in the third, one in the fourth and seven in the fifth to bring the run rule into effect.

D'Auria finished with five RBI's while teammate Durkee totaled four runs driven in.

Ella Clockadale scored four times with Hollyn Clockadale, Mamie Bowen, Stonecipher and Pajot crossing home twice.

Durkee earned the win in the circle for MV.

The righty tossed five innings, allowing two hits with four strikeouts with no walks.

Mount Vernon (5-1) returns to the diamond on Thursday, August 20, hosting Mount Paran Christian School for the first region game of the season.

First pitch against the Eagles is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mustang Park.
