DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country teams kicked off their 2026 season on Saturday, August 29, competing in the Bob Blastow Invitational at Foxhall Sporting Club hosted by Alexander High School.

In the Varsity Girls race, MV placed third overall with 119 points.

Junior Morgan Huggins placed third, clocking in at 18:52.

Sophomore Lizzie Mueller was close behind, taking 12th overall at 20:08 and classmate Emma-Neal Medlin was 25th with a time of 20:58.

Junior Alexis Kendall was also in the Top-50 with a time of 21:30, good for 33rd place.

In the Varsity Boys Race, MV placed 22nd of 32 schools.

Senior Henry Miller led the Mustangs with a time of 19:14.

Fellow classmates Charles Copeland (19:19) and JJ Middleton (19:31) rounded out MV's top three times.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12, competing in the Orthowest Invitational at Carrollton High School.

Races are set to begin at 7:15 a.m. in Carrollton, Ga.
