Varsity Volleyball Earns Region Wins Over Mt. Bethel and Weber

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team picked up two region wins on Tuesday night, Sept. 1, defeating Mt. Bethel Christian Academy and Weber School on the road.

In the first match of the night, the Mustangs bested the Mt. Bethel Eagles, 2-0.

MV won the first set 25-18 and finished off the match with a 25-12 win in the second set.

Mount Vernon also totaled 43 digs in the match.

In the second match, the Mustangs defeated the host Weber School Rams 2-0.

MV took the first set 25-21 before closing out the win with a dominant 25-11 victory in set two.

The Mustangs finished with 33 digs against the Rams.

Altogether, MV posted 16 aces over the two matches.

Quincey Smeltz and Riley Campbell combined for 23 kills on the night.

Mount Vernon returns to play on Tuesday, Sept. 8, traveling to North Cobb Christian School.

MV will play NCC at 5 p.m. followed by a match against Northgate at 6 p.m.
