KENNESAW, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team earned a split on the road on Tuesday night, Sept. 8, in a tri-match at North Cobb Christian School.

MV defeated the North Cobb Christian School Eagles 2-1 before dropping the final match of the night to the Northgate Vikings, 0-2.

In the match against the Eagles, the Mustangs won the first set 25-22 and lost the second set 20-25.

The Mustangs emerged victorious in the winner-take-all third set, 15-7.

Mount Vernon lost its second match of the night to the Vikings 0-2.

Northgate took the first set 25-13 and closed out the match with a 25-23 win in set two.

Altogether, the Mustangs finished with 63 digs, 38 kills and 11 aces.

Riley Campbell paced MV with 14 kills while teammate Madelyn Bargar totaled 14 digs.

Quincey Smeltz had three blocks as well.

Mount Vernon (8-11) returns to play Sept. 11-12 at the River City Rumble in Chattanooga, TN.

Matches will be played at Baylor School throughout the weekend.
