CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country teams were in action over the weekend, competing at the Wingfoot Classic at Sam Smith Park.

The Varsity Girls placed 13th of 25 teams in the Championship field.

Top finishers included:
-Lizzie Mueller (29th, 19:38)
-Morgan Huggins (40th, 20:00)
-Emma-Neal Medlin (57th, 20:35)
-Siena Tiffin (110th, 21:41)

In the Varsity Boys race, the Mustangs took 11th out of 28 teams in a combined JV and Varsity race.

Top finishers included:
-Henry Miller (56th, 19:05)
-JJ Middleton (80th, 19:23)
-Matteo Satelmaher (88th, 19:28)
-Carter King (89th, 19:31)

Both squads are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Darlington Festival.

Races are set to begin at 8 a.m. at Darlington School in Rome, Ga.
