ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team picked up its seventh consecutive win on Thursday night, Sept. 25, defeating Cass High School 1-0 at Mustang Park.

The lone run of the game came in the bottom of third inning when Alex Schiff singled that brought in Dillan Pajot.

The rest of the game was a pitcher's duel between MV's Bella Durkee and Cass's Kylie Gentry.

Durkee allowed seven hits while Gentry limited the Mustang offense to just two.

Cass had two runners on in four innings but could not come up with a hit to score a run, finishing 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Durkee finishd the game with four strikeouts and two walks while Gentry racked up nine strikeouts and allowing just three walks.

MV (15-4) returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to Walton High School for a round-robin tournament.

Mount Vernon will play Walton at 10 a.m. followed by a game against Lassiter High School at 12 p.m.
