ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Football team cruised to its second region win of the season, defeating the King's Ridge Christian School Tigers 42-16 at Archer Field on Friday night, Sept. 25.

After allowing a touchdown to the Tigers early in the first quarter, MV would strike for two scores later in the period.

Kobe Fleming rushed for a 27-yard touchdown and Gavin Steele scored on a 56-yard rush to give MV a 14-7 lead at the end of the first.

King's Ridge added a field goal and a pick-six to go ahead 16-13 in the second quarter.

But MV responded with two more touchdowns to close out the first half: a 60-yard kickoff return by Wendell Olden and a AJ Hunter 5-yard reception to put the Mustangs back in front 27-16 by halftime.

The Mustang offense continued to roll in the second half, posting two more touchdowns in the third quarter.

Kobe Fleming punched in a 9-yard touchdown followed by a Bennett Brown 4-yard run to put MV ahead 42-16.

Fleming finished with 169 yards rushing while Steele totaled 105 yards on the ground on seven carries.

Fleming was also 6-of-14 passing for 90 yards.

Taurean Rawlins paced the Mustangs in receiving with two catches for 52 yards.

Mount Vernon (4-2, 2-0 Reg. 9-2A) returns to action on Friday, Oct. 2 hosting Fellowship Christian in a key region contest on Homecoming 2026.

Kickoff against the Paladins is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. at Ron Hill Field.
