MARIETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball team continues to surge in 2026.

The Mustangs have won eight of their last nine contests dating back to Sept. 3.

And after an impressive 1-0 win over Cass High School on Sept. 24, MV took to the field on Sept. 26 in a round-robin tournament at Walton High School.

vs. WALTON HIGH SCHOOL (9/26/26)
Mount Vernon was triumphant over the Walton Raiders 7-6 on Saturday.

MV got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mamie Bowen walked, and Olivia Stonecipher hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

A sacrifice fly by Hollyn Clockadale extended the Mustang lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.

Walton made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the third after Ashlynn Williams grounded out, scoring one run, Paige Cullinan singled, scoring one run, and Taylor Ann Embro singled, scoring two runs.

The Mustangs took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Stonecipher tripled down the right field line, Clockadale tripled to center field, and Dillon Pajot walked, each scoring one run.

Bella Durkee earned the win for MV.

The starting pitcher allowed six hits and six runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking four.

Stonecipher and Clockadale were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for MV.

Alex Schiff went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Mustangs in hits. Bowen paced the team with two walks as well.

vs. LASSITER HIGH SCHOOL (9/26/26)

Lassiter built their lead a few runs at a time in a 6-0 victory over Mount Vernon on Saturday afternoon.

Lassiter were the first to get on the board in the first when Riley Mitchell singled, scoring one run.

A double by Katelyn Batroff extended the Lassiter lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

Kennedy Darweesh opened the game for Mount Vernon Varsity Mustangs. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and six runs (five earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking two.

Ella Clockadale, Darweesh, and Hollyn Clockadale each collected one hit for MV.

Mount Vernon was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Taylor D'Auria had the most chances in the field with four.



The Mustangs are back in action on Monday, Sept. 28, traveling to Whitefield Academy.

First pitch against the Wolfpack is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Mableton, Ga.
