ROME, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country teams were in action over the weekend, competing at the Darlington Festival hosting by the Darlington School.

The Varsity Girls placed 3rd overall with 65 points.

The top finishers for MV were:
-Morgan Huggins (2nd - 19:34)
-Lizzie Mueller (4th - 20:04)
-Emma-Neal Medlin (11th - 20:56)
-Alexis Kendall (20th - 21:34)
-Siena Tiffin (28th - 22:13)
-Cydney Madley (31st - 22:27)

The Varsity Boys took home 7th place as well.

MV's top finishers were:
-Charlie Copeland (33rd - 18:46)
-Carter King (39th - 19:02)
-JJ Middleton (41st - 19:05)
-Timothy Phelps (75th - 20:12.47)
-Charlie Werdesheim (76th - 20:12.52)

Both teams return to action on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Coach Wood Invitational.

Races are set to begin at 9 a.m. at the McIntosh Nature Preserve in Whitesburg, Ga.
