SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - Thursday's home opener against Miller Grove for the Mount Vernon varsity softball team has been officially rained out.

Originally scheduled for a 5 p.m. first pitch, a super-cell covered the Mount Vernon Glenn Campus and athletic fields, causing thunder, lightning and heavy downpours.

A decision to make up the contest will be made at a later date.

The Mustangs, recently off an rain-shortened unofficial contest at Westminster on August 8, return to action on Saturday, August 11 hosting Blessed Trinity and Cherokee Bluff.

First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Glenn Campus Softball Field.
