Cross Country Recap: Alexander/ASICS Invitational

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity cross country teams returned to the trail on Saturday, Oct. 5, competing in the Alexander/ASICS Invitational at the Foxhall Sporting Club hosted by the Alexander School.

In girls competition, the Mustangs placed 11th of 14 teams with 263 points.

Audrey O'Toole had a strong showing for the Mustangs, placing ninth overall at 21:48.

Emery Dikeman secured a Top-50 spot in a field of 130 runners, crossing the finish line in 45th place at 24:03.

Josie Meade took 59th at 24:45 as well.

In the varsity boys race, the Mustangs placed eighth of 27 teams with a team score of 243.

Nick Pierce took 14th place, punching the clock at 17:55 to lead the Mustangs.

Robert Blumencranz and Alston Schmelzer placed 29th and 30th with times of 18:39 and 18:41, respectively.

Jason Harvey placed in the Top-50 at 47th with a time of 18:59.

The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 13, partaking in the Pickens Invitational in Jasper, Ga.

The varsity boys race begins at 7:45 a.m. with the varsity girls to follow at 8:15 a.m. at Roper Park.
