Mustangs Close Out 2018 Season with Fifth Place Finish at Area-3 Private Cross Country Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys cross country teams saw their 2018 season come to a close on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 25, both placing fifth out of of 11 teams at the GHSA Class-A Area-3 Private Championship at the Heritage Church Cross Country Course.

In girls competition, Emily Raeside paced Mount Vernon with an eighth place finish overall, crossing the finish line at 20:06.

Audrey O'Toole recorded a personal best time, finishing in 12th place at 21:08.

Emery Dikeman was 31st at 23:08 while Josie Meade took 37th at 23:49.

In boys action, the Mustangs were led by the eighth place finish of Nick Pierce at 17:27.

Suttery Guttery also had a strong showing, taking 14th place and clocking in at 17:47.

Ryan Rapaport and Robert Blumencranz secured Top-25 finishes at 21st and 25th, respectively.

The Mustangs will graduate 12 seniors combined from both squads: Carson Bargeron, Robert Blumencranz, Ashley Hall, Daniela Jimenez, Ashley Koch, Spencer Lucas, Elizabeth McGinnis, Maya Munoz, Jack Riekena, Alston Schmelzer, Nina Toller and Brady Vincent.
