SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - Four members of the Class of 2019 made their commitment official on Thursday morning, Dec. 20.
Zoe Stupek, Tres Gonzalez, Austin Douglas and Justin Douglas all signed National Letters of Intent to play at the collegiate level inside Mount Vernon's Glenn Campus Gymnasium during a special ceremony in front of family, coaches, faculty and staff, and students.
Below is a quick summary of where each athlete will go, what sport he/she will play and a quick look at their Mount Vernon career.
1) ZOE STUPEK - Volleyball - Bucknell University
Stupek had attended Mount Vernon for 14 years and will play volleyball for the Bisons next fall in Lewisburg, PA.
Stupek was named to the All-Region Team three consecutive years while playing for Mount Vernon and also participated in cross country.
In her senior season, Stupek finished first in digs (245), first in digs per set (7.7), second in assists (52) and third in aces (33).
Stupek was also a threat in handling opponents' services, pacing the team with 309 receiving serves.
2) TRES GONZALEZ - Baseball - Georgia Tech
The future yellow jacket was named the Region 5-1A Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior. He also landed on the First Team All-State for those seasons.
Gonzalez was also named to the Metro Atlanta High School All Star Team as a junior.
Currently, Gonzalez is in the Top 300 in his draft class according to Major League Baseball scouts.
3) JUSTIN DOUGLAS - Football - Southeastern Louisiana University
Justin Douglas has attending Mount Vernon for five years and participated in Track & Field and Basketball along with playing on the gridiron for the Mustangs.
Justin was named First Team Defense All-Region as a junior and First Team Offense All-Region as a senior.
The soon-to-be Lion proved to be a lethal threat for the Mustangs as his senior season progressed, finishing with 1,100 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns.
4) AUSTIN DOUGLAS - Football - James Madison University
Like his twin brother Justin, Austin has attended Mount Vernon for five years.
During his time as a Mustang he has participated in Track & Field and Basketball along with football.
Austin was named the Offensive Player of the Year in Region 5-1A in 2018.
The future Duke rushed for over 1,500 yards on 14 carries while racking up 17 touchdowns in his senior campaign. He also hauled in eight touchdowns on the receiving end while totaling over 500 yards.
