SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity wrestling team came away with two decisive victories on Wednesday night, Jan. 16, defeating the South Atlanta High School Hornets and Westlake High School Lions inside the Glenn Campus Gymnasium.
Mount Vernon's first match against South Atlanta was won with ease 63-6.
Highlights from the match are as follows:
-Brian McWilliams def. K. Williams of S. Atlanta by pin in the 138 lb. weight class.
-Blake Kytle def. A. Mitchell of S. Atlanta by pin in the 145 lb. weight class.
-Tyler Long def. A. Hartsfield of S. Atlanta by pin in the 152 lb. weight class.
-Eric Dodder def. S. Rawling of S. Atlanta by pin in the 195 lb. weight class.
-Jonathan Hammond def. D. Williams of S. Atlanta by pin in the 220 lb. weight class.
In the final match of the evening, the Mustangs topped Westlake 63-0 to secure the sweep.

-William House def. X. Wilder of Westlake by pin.
-Brian McWilliams def. J. Dunn of Westlake by pin in the final two minutes.
-Eric Dodder def. D. Bailey of Westlake by pin in the first two minutes in the 195 lb. weight class.
-Jonathan Hammond def. J. Robinson of Westlake 3-0 in the 220 lb. weight class.
-Michael Lotz def. A. Clinkscales of Westlake by pin in the 285 lb. weight class.
The Mustangs return to the mat on Wednesday, Jan. 23, traveling to St. Francis for a tri-match with the Knights and Atlanta Jewish.
Matches are set to begin at 5 p.m.
