Mount Vernon Basketball Program Lands Six Players on 2018-19 All-Region Team

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys basketball teams landed a combined six players on the 2018-19 All-Region 5-1A Team, announced earlier this week.

For the varsity girls, junior Katieanne Peterson was named to the All-Region Second Team.

Peterson is Mount Vernon's leading scorer at 15.6 points per game and also averages over two steals per game at 2.1.

Along with Peterson, senior Gracie Hudgins (3.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1 spg) was named to the team as an Honorable Mention.

On the boys side, the Mustangs posted four players on the All-Region Team.

Sophomore Jordan Wicker was named Second Team All-Region averaging 13 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game and and 1.7 steals per game.

Garnering Honorable Mentions nods were junior Alex Morge (11.8 ppg, 2.3 spg), senior Austin Douglas (5.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and senior Justin Douglas (9.2 ppg, 1.5 apg).
