CLEVELAND, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity boys golf team competed in the Warrior Invitational on Saturday, March 23, at Mossy Creek Golf Course, earning a third place finish out of 17 teams in the field.

The Mustangs fired a 330, with Jake Kephart leading the way with a 4-over 70.

Max Stevens also had a strong showing, signing his card for a 9-over 79.

Steven Soteres and William Brown rounded out Mount Vernon's scoring with an 88 and 89, respectively.

Rivers Academy placed first with a team score of 299 followed by Dacula High School at 325.

In varsity girls action, the duo of Aleni Poulos and Savanna Messner won their match play round against North Forsyth High School in and back-and-forth battle at 1-up at the Lady Warrior Invite at the Bridgemill Athletic Club in Canton, Ga.

The varsity golf teams are back on the links on Monday, March 25, competing in the Georgia Invitational at the Atlanta Athletic Country Club in John's Creek, Ga.

Opening tee shots are set for 3 p.m.
