Cross Country Recap: AT&T Starrs Mill Panther Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys cross country teams were in action over Labor Day weekend, competing in the AT&T Starrs Mill Panther Meet at the Heritage Church Cross Country Course on Saturday, August 31.

The varsity girls finished 16th of 18 schools while the varsity boys were 20th of 31.

Emily Raeside placed 20th overall, clocking in at 20:13.

Teammate Audrey O'Toole was 55th at 22:09 followed by Eleanor Madderra at 26:46.

The varsity boys were paced by Nick Pierce in 39th place overall at 17:27.

Ryan Rappaport was 52nd out of 257 runners, crossing the finish line at 17:44.

Teammate Sean Pierce secured a spot in the Top-100 at 92nd overall with a time of 18:31.

"It was fantastic day," Head Coach Sam Baroody said. "We had our first so-called "PR party" of the season, with 19 runners setting a new barometer to meet for the rest of the season. We're all incredibly proud of their performances."

The Mustangs will have a weekend off before their next meet at the Milton Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 14.

The first race is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. in Alpharetta, Ga.
