Cross Country Recap: Wingfoot Cross Country Classic (Sept. 21)

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity cross country teams hit the trail this past weekend, competing at the Wingfoot Cross Country Classic hosted by the Atlanta Track Club at Sam Smith Park on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The varsity girls took home ninth place out of 17 teams while the varsity boys were ninth of 29 teams, both competing in the "B" races of the 5K event.

Emily Raeside was fifth overall in the girls race with a time of 20:37.

Teammate Audrey O'Toiole secured a Top-20 finish, crossing the finish line in 18th place at 21:57.

Grace Keller rounded out Mount Vernon's top three in 60th place (out of 146) with a time of 24:23.

In the varsity boys race, Nick Pierce finished first Mount Vernon, placing 15th overall with a time 17:37.

Ryan Rappaport was 23rd at 17:46, Jason Harvey 51st at 18:31 and Sean Pierce 52nd at 18:31.

The Mustangs are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 25, partaking in the St. Francis Meet in Roswell, Ga.

Races begin at 6 p.m.
