ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon varsity softball team is playoff bound!
The Mustangs (13-10) learned of their seed for the 2019 Class-A Private State Softball Tournament on Monday, Oct. 7 after the GHSA released the official playoff bracket.
Mount Vernon will be the no. 8 seed and earned a first round bye in the state tournament.
The Mustangs will play a best-of-three game series next Wednesday-Thursday, Oct. 16-17 against the winner of the no. 9 Hebron Christian and no. 24 Whitefield series.
Game times will be announced after the first round series is completed.
Games 1 and 2 of the Sweet 16 will be Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Mount Vernon's Upper Campus Softball Field. If necessary, Game 3 will be played on Thursday, Oct. 17, also at Mount Vernon.
