ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon middle school football teams are still playing ball at the best time of the year!

Both Middle School teams picked up wins in the Metro-10 Semifinals last week to earn a spot on the Championship game.

Last Thursday, the 7/8 Mustangs defeated Mt. Pisgah 20-13 on the road.

Walker Warshaw had two rushing touchdowns while Jonathan Gallinaro picked up one score on a pass from Sam Nazarian.

The 7/8 Mustangs (6-2) will take on Whitefield Academy on the road on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. in the Championship.

This past Saturday, the 5/6 Mustangs (3-4) topped King's Ridge 6-0 in torrential rain.

King's Ridge had previously defeated Mount Vernon twice in the regular season, but the Mustangs dug deep for the shutout win.

The lone score came via a Jackson Cox rushing touchdown for the Mustangs in the second half.

Mount Vernon will now play at Mt. Paran on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10:00 a.m. for the Metro-10 Championship.

Mt. Paran defeated Whitefield 14-12 in overtime on Monday, Oct. 21 in the semifinals to advance to the Championship game.
