Mustangs Trample Our Lady of Mercy  Bobcats 41-0, Snap Two-Game Slide

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon varsity football team got back in the win column this past Friday night, Oct. 25, defeating the Our Lady of Mercy Bobcats 41-0. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak dating back to Oct. 4.

Skylar Stefaniak scored three touchdowns while teammates Andrew Douglas, Jonathan Hammond, and Alex Holliday each recorded one score.

The Mustangs kept the ball primarily on the ground, rushing for over 250 yards.

Along with his three touchdowns, Stafaniak rushed for over 100 yards in the contest.

Mount Vernon led 34-0 at halftime and scored the final touchdown of the game on a Luke Barnes pass to Alex Holliday in the third period to for force a running clock fourth quarter.

Mount Vernon picked up its second shutout of the year on the defensive end as well.

Mount Vernon's previous shutout came in a 51-0 victory against Landmark Christian at home on Sept. 27.

The Mustangs (4-4, 2-3 Reg. 5-1A) return to action on Friday, Nov. 1, hosting the no. 2 ranked Eagles Landing Christian Academy Chargers in the final home game of the regular season.

Kickoff on Senior Night is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon's Upper Campus Football Field.
