Mustangs Land Nine Players on 2019 All-Region Football Team

ATLANTA - After making the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season, the Mount Vernon varsity football team was awarded by placing nine players on the 2019 All-Region Team at Wednesday's Region 5-1A Meeting.

"I am so proud of this group of young men that made the All-Region Team this year," Head Coach Wayne Dabbs said. "In one of the toughest regions in 1A, for us to get nine players representing Mount Vernon speaks volumes to the hard work put in by them."

Below are the accolades for the Mustangs.

Defensive Player of the Year: Sr. Jonathan Hammond

First Team Offense WR: Jr. Andrew Douglas

Second Team Offense QB: Jr. Blake Kytle

Second Team Offense RB: Skylar Stefaniak

Second Team Defense DB: Sr. Alex VanLandingham

Honorable Mention Defense: Jr. DL Erik Dodder, Sr. DL Bijan Nikain, Sr. LB Alex Mette

Honorable Mention Offense: Sr. Alex Holliday

Added Dabbs: "Each of these young men deserve the award and we are proud of them for this major accomplishment, but I personally am more proud of the leadership and character each of these young men display off the field as well. They are great representatives of the Mount Vernon program!"
